E31 Making Light of the Dark – Managing Our Masks on Halloween, and Every Day

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The practices we do on this road of spiritual and personal growth, such as meditation and mindfulness, can peel away our masks and expose our face to a waiting world. And that can be difficult! But it can also be so, so valuable, powerful, and rewarding.

As Halloween approaches and we spend a night celebrating masks and shadows, it’s a perfect time to think about who we really are behind our mask. Why? Because dressing up in costume and putting on the mask isn’t just for this time of year. Every morning, we get out of bed, have breakfast, and don a face for the world before we face the day. But is that who we really are?

Do you light up your shadow areas? Do you take off your mask once in a while? Do you realize that traits you may find distasteful in others may just be telling you where you need to do work?

This journey of personal and spiritual growth isn’t about creating elaborate masks, but tearing them off and shining light in the shadows to see who we really are. No matter how hard we try to hide, we’re still ourselves.

Listen in and learn a powerful exercise to help you deal with your mask and the traits you see in others that you want to push away.
